(Pictured @questlove in the massive record collection of @montreuxjazzfestival founder, the late Claude Nobs)
The Montreux Jazz Festival began as a three day event founded in 1967 by a 31yr old upstart who worked for the tourist board in a sleepy town on the shores of Lake Geneva.
Fifty years later the festival has expanded into a two week event attracting music lovers in the thousands from around the world and promotes everything from Classic Jazz, Blues and Bebop to Rock-N-Roll, Trap, Hip-Hop and Soul.
Since Claude's passing, @quincydjoneshosts the festival and Claude Nobs' Chalet has become a place where festival attendees can mingle with artists and gain inspiration from the legacy of Montreux's prized son.
It's mind boggling to walk through his home and consider all of its musical milestones; BB King's Guitar, Freddie Mercury's Piano and thousands of first pressings.
After his first visit, @questlove modeled his record collection room after Claude's.
I look forward to more institutionalized music meccas curated by industry leaders like Questlove. If a small town guy near a lake in Switzerland can build this, then the world is next for a kid from Philly.
